[[Newspaper clipping paste-on]: Grinnell Herald, July 21, 1925 Mrs. J.A. Brown Passes In Wichita, Kan We have received word of the death at her home in Wichita, Kansas, of Mrs. J.A. Brown on Tuesday evening, July 14th, last. She lived at Grinnell from 1890 to 1908, moving from there to Des Moines and the following year to Wichita, where her home has been ever since. She was a member of the Congregational Church at Grinnell close on to 20 years, transferring her membership from there to United Congregational Church, Wichita. She was an untiring church, Sunday School and W.C.T.U. worker, in addition to raising a family of five children. She first came to Kansas in 1874 with her husband, who was a pioneer physician, and later the family returned to Iowa. She was born November 29th, 1849, being past 75 years of age. Considering her age she had been enjoying comparatively good health, until last March, when she fell and broke her hip, which finally resulted in death, as she was unable to rally her failing strength. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Horning of the United Congregational church, Wichita, who used as his text John 17:4. "I have glorified thee on earth. I have finished the work thou gavest me to do." All the children are living. Clark E., Will L., and Nellie M., of Wichita; Harry L. of Des Moines, and Stanley C. of Strong City, Kan. Also one sister, Mrs. F.W. Cushman, Evansville, Wis.
