On Jan. 19-1926 the W.C.T.U. met at the Cong. church for memory of the 18th Amendment a very appropriate program was prepared. This was the sixth year since this amendment had gone into effect. The president opened the meeting by singing Field not to Temptation, After which Rev. Frederick of the Presbyterian church read the fifth chapter of the spirit and those of the flesh. And drawing out attention to the direct influences that the saloon has had in tearing down, all that is pure and God given in the human life. The speaker spoke of his [dire?] relations to this organization which has been of a long standing - his father in law when and [illegible] now for president was a candidate and [illegible] of the prohibition party. The address as a whole was one of special interest and many good thoughts was introduced that inspired those in attendance to appreciate the great cause they represent. Prayer was offered by the speaker pleading for God's help and leadership with those that are representing this cause. Mrs. Chas. Laws formed the Union with a well selected solo - [Unanswered?] yet. Using a guitar for her accompaniment. Mrs Strake was presented with a life diploma, she responding to the [illegible] bestowed upon her in a fitting manner. A missionary feature of giving was properly acted, and by the members of the missionary [illegible] of the Presbyterian church. A lesson in how to give and what to give made its impression in an effective way. Miss Harriet Buck head the secretary report for the December meeting. Two bills were officially allowed One for 2.98 a deficit, on Mrs Kearney, expense to Simplicity. And 2.00 for flowers [illegible] to the Wards family with respect to C.S. Wards the departed one.
