Geneva April 26 1836 Dear Father - I recd your letter containing a certificate of deposit for $200 and have just called at the bank in this place and they are glad to let me have their money for it - I had contemplated leaving here with a W. Thompson in a wagon who is bound for Illinois - but now I had made the arrangement with him a young man of our Village has become the heir to some property in Toledo and I have engaged to go with him - if he succeeds in getting into possession of what he thinks he is entitled to - I shall be well compensated for assisting him - the prospect is a sufficient inducement for me to take some trouble in enabling him to substantiate his claims - I shall therefore probably not leave Penn Yan short of ten days - when I leave I will write - You state in your letter that you had advanced the money yourself - it is safe as
