Campo Seco Aug 11 1855 Dear Mother I have not had a line from you for several months & if I mistake not you are my debtor for a letter - but whether you are or not is no matter - at all events you will be surprised at the contents of this - California is the land of marvels - its a prolific Country as I suppose you have heard - Well to come to the point at once with my news - Mrs Eno was confined a week ago to day and gave birth to daughter - a fine healthy well formed little one with the very best of lungs & keeps them well exercised - Elizabeth is up & about the house and is much better than could be expected - This is news enough for one letter - she sends her love to Eliza & the rest of the family - the young one is called Carrie after John Knapps wife - Remember me to all - Yours truly Henry Eno W Eno
