Office of Mel L. Webster Groceries And Crockery Independence Iowa Mch 23 1887 My darling darling girl I got your letter just before dinner and I can tell you Min I have not been as completley miserable in my remembrance as I have the last hour. I read it at the store and I could hardly keep back the team till I got home and off the street. I could eat no dinner and cryed till I was ashamed to come down town my eyes are so red. I dont see how any thing can look any more dark to any body than they do to me. Just to think! that all I have got to live for my own darling girl is so far away and every day that I am You will no doubt think I am a little foolish to write you so often but Min I could not wait till Sunday I felt so bad and if you believe me I feel a hundred percent better now for having written it. [illegible] another [illegible] you may decide I am just the same to you your devoted and unchangeable lover. I live only for you good by my precious your Mel
