By the way I recd a letter from Frank about ten days ago. he wrote me quite a good letter and it was quite unexpected for I know he was not in a very good humor when he went away. this makes the forth time he left home in a Pet, he writes to Emma that he is making money and is well satisfied which I was glad to hear. I think I wrote in my last letter that Luthe Barrow had sold out to Giles for $3200- he has bought a place in Missouri 20 miles north of St [Jo?] I rather think he has worsted himself. the Grass hoppers are taking all that part of the country now. Well Geo., you never saw the line of improvement that is going on in Ottumwa at this time. they have spared $76000 to dam the river above
