Blakesburg Iowa Aug 15 1875 Mr Geo. S. Finney I Recd a letter from you I think about 6 weeks ago. I answered it at once as I always to, without delay. Since then I have not had any word from you by letter. in your letter you stated you had quit driveing stage, and was then clerking in a store, but that you had been sick and was still unwell. of course I think it strange that you do not write. you wrote that you thought you had been taken in when you took stock in the Gila Mineing Co I though you was to sharp for that, but the best of us is deceived some times. Emma recd a letter from Lewis a few days ago, in which he stated that you had met with an other misfortune. he says [Sodd? Todd?] Williams told him you had buried [750? 150?] $ under the hearth or in the fire Place, and on the 26th of July or that night while you were at a party your money was all stolen. I was sorry to hear of it. It will soon be three years since you Left home, and your hard earnd earnings, seem to have taken the wings of the moment and fled. I have been very anxious to hear from you, hoping it was not true,
