the prisoners out and work them. They've got a big nigger up there who is in for murder and they are afraid that he will kill himself so have to use special care with him. I was supposed to take him out for an hours exercise. They hand cuffed his wrist to mine so he couldn't run away and another fellow followed me around with a sawed off shot gun. It started rain about 4 pm yesterday. Just as we got off guard and kept it up until this morning. It quit in time for us to have one of these so called alerts. Packed all of our stuff in our barracks bags and formed out in the street as if
