Values: we were brought upon the work ethic and also on "adjusting." You had to learn to give and take in my family. We do a lot of that. You have to live together and you have to consider others. It comes naturally. You just do that! We were also taught to accept things. Not like hippys where everything their parents stood for had to be kicked under the rug. Probably we accepted too much because we didn't begin to question things 'till we were on our own. But, you know, if you paint you have to use your judgement all the time. In history or something like that there isn't anything to use your judgement on. Not in the same way or same sense.
