October, 1906. Sun. 7. Fair, N.W. 62° max. At mtg. morn. only. - Pain in right orbital region & cheek (& eye) all night and all day. so could not read at all. C. & I walked over N.E. to the brook, P.M., for pebbles. Started Paper White Narcissis & Roman Hyacinths in water. Mon.8. Pain continued all night letting up morn.; began in left eye before noon & severe P.M. & Evg. Cloudy & cold day after a warm fair morn. Raw N.W. wind. - Not down after supper. & went to bed early. Tues. 9. Pain continued in left eye most all night. Cold & cloudy morn, 34°, N.W. wind. no frost Mer. 36° max. all day, & snow spittings. C. & I picked most all the grapes. 75 lbs or more. Wed. 10. Fair morn. 26° heavy frost & a little light snow. - 36° Max. - 26° -10 P.M. clear. Plants, covered, out doors froze stiff. Tried thawing them with cold water & spray pump. C. went to Hiawatha entertainment Evg. Thurs. 11. Clouded over Early: 27° morn., quiet. Wind changed to S.E. & fair P.M., but mer. only 40° max. - C. in A.M. & P.M. - Did not attend the Baraca social & supper. Fri. 12. 29° morn. fair. S.E. wind. - Fair day, & mer. reached 60°. Busy at office, & feeling pretty well; cold better. Sat. 13. 50° morn., 80° P.M. - S.W. wind. Fair day. C. in morn & P.M.
