Edith Pratt had stroke last Sunday. April, 1918 Sun. 14 Light frost; 67° S.E. clear. all there at church a.m. & I out evg. also. - called on Lathrop an hour, & took a walk around town. Mon. 15 40°, - 65° S.E. wind. Fair morn. sowed head lettuce, spinach, carrots, beets, & parsnip. Office 10:20 to Rain ev. sowed more grass. G.B. Monroe's house burned. Tues. 16 Rained steady in night & a while morn. cleaned evg. or P.M. Office & abs. as usual. Wed. 17 Rainy a.m. after 8; 50° and all day. Cleaned vault morn, and repaired floor. Got 2 1/2 pecks [cobbler?] potatoes of Lathrop. Abstracting mostly Charlie Lathrop came to see his father. Thurs. 18 37° to 44° N.E. cloudy Office & C.H. as usual but not well. - Headache & cold, & sore throat, & sore all through. Fri. 19 25° fair, N.E., 41°; wind very uncomfortable. A little head-ache all day. Office In [afes? nevr?] evg. Saw Dr. Bowen P.M. & got a new prescrip. Sat. 20 28° cloudy. N.E. wind. Head-ache all night, in left eye only; & all day: better evg. Fast snow storm 4 pm & 2 in. start on evg. C.[illegible] Lathrop
