May-June, 1918
Sun. 26 Warm morn., fair. S. [NW?] about 73° all day. Clara & I at Memorial service at our church; Rev. Bird preached. [M.E.D.?] H. & I at Op. Ho. evg. a while, a send-off for 48 more draft men. 

Mon. 27 Shower in night, and a.m. Fair P.M. [Mr?] 70° max. Office 9:30. Clara typing. Mowing &c till - 9 p.m.

Tues. 28 53° More th. showers in night. Mowing etc. till 10:40 set out corn & beans from testing pots. Quiet at office

Wed. 29 Rain in night. - Rather Wet! About 58° all day. Sowed shady place grass, morn. Cut wood &c. Posting up books at office

Thurs. 30 Very wet Fog 58° Some rain; cleared in P.M. when the crowd for Decoration Day had got into the hall, & [mrs.?] went up to 80°+ office most of time Rev. Bird speaker. Very warm night. 

Fri. 31 70° morn, & rained in night & morn. [Threatening?] all day, but some hot sun. over 80° Garden morn. Another copious shower after supper, & strong wind. 

Sat. 1 June Fair. S.W. cool morn. + 77° max. Garden till most 11. abs. P.M. Did not mature well. Saved seed Planted the old pole beans.
