April, 1919 Sun 20 Cloudy morn. Fair day. Gtle N. breeze. 70° max. All three at ch. morn.; and wife & I at Organ Recital pm Mon. 21 Fair, S. 65° Garden all A.M. raking & burning. Abs. P.M. Harriet transplanting hollyhocks Tues. 22 Fair, 71° At home all a.m.; [spading?] opened roses, & burned leaves. H. did a little work - Planted peas and sweet peas after supper. Office P.M. & a while evg. Wed. 23 Rainy morn, 64°; clearing all day and much cooler. N.W. Garden most all a.m. Office & C. H. in P.M. Thurs. 24 30° morn; 50° max. Fair, N.W. Garden A.M. - Office P.M. Len. A. Howe died, 8 a.m. Fri. 25 24 to 54° Clear N.W. to N.E. gtle. Gunderson spading yesterday p.m. and to-day a.m. Garden a.m. Put up Brighton grape vines. Office P.M. & a while evg . At basket supper [E.W.G.?] Sat. 26 29 to 56° clear N.E.to S.E. & S.W. Planted potatoes a.m. (23 lbs Irish cobblers, 15 lb of [them?] from Iowa Seed Co. Office P.M. Mowed East. Evg More sweet peas.
