Near Chariton Jan 11th 1870 Dear Sister Em Your letter of date Jan 1st was duly recd. Am glad to hear that you Danvillians had a good time during the holly days. I have been here since Dec 10th. and in the seclusion of the country spent the Holly days. Frank did not send me the paper you spoke of. The Post's time was out Dec. 3d. You will notice the date where my name was on it. I have got Charlie hemmed in under the table where he is playing with his pans, whistles, blocks, toy horses, tin [illegible] will you be so kind Em as to write or tell
