DesMoines Iowa August 3rd 1866 Dear Father, Levi wrote you I think a day or two ago that your property was advertised for sale. When it was advertised the last time I wrote you asking if you thought best for the property to sell under the judgement and I would buy it in or have some one do so if it could be done for a reasonable price in which should I or the Foster buy it in. You note would then be satisfied. the property having sold under the judgement would be a good defense to the note. The lawyer for Mr. Allen who holds the judgements seems to know that you executed a note for six hundred dollars which you defended when [illegible] on it for the reason that those same judgments [hang?] over the property and he has asked if some such arrangements can not be made. I told him that I understood the note was in the hand of a Cincinnati Merchant that if he would find the note it could be settle that way I have not doubt but he
