as to the 2nd Lieutency in our Company, Holmes has recomended McNeil. I sayed nothing about it to influence him or the Major to do other wise but I am certain that Doolittle would bee the best man for the place. when McNeil comes down send me ($1.00) worth of Postage stamps yours &c Geo. F. Hall Tell McNeil that I report him absent sick and he will not nead a furlough for by the time it would go the rounds to be signed he would be here G. F. H
