When ariving at the foot of Wild Cat mountain the regiment was considerably in advance of the wagon train, an old man (a citizen) met us and said "gentlemen the Colonel said I should tell you to go up over the mountains and he would meeet you at the other side" - at the same time he remarked that to go around the mountain it was seven miles
