25 Near Alexandria, Va. Monday April 25th 1864 Rained this morning about three oclock and again at six, notwithstanding the rain, the line of march was taken up at six oclock. Passed through the city of Washington, D.C. about noon, and encamped at near Alexandria - Distance marched was about 20 miles. Tuesday 26th Drew and issued rations: Viz - 3 days of Pork and 4 days each of Coffee, Sugar and Hard Bread. Orders were received to be ready to move tomorrow morning. Accompanied a number of the officers to the Theatre, in Alexandria. Did not enjoy part of the performance - "Storming of Seabastipole was the drama presented"
