72 Front of Petersburg, Va Saturday July 2d 1864 For sometime my health has been poor, and with the hope of relieving me of the boils the Doctor has given me a dose of salts. Daniel Schmahl, of Company H, was wounded. Sunday. 3d Frank H. Forbes, the Quarter-master's clerk, was promoted today to Quartermaster Sergeant to date from July 1st. Colonel Overton kindly ordered Daniel Trautman, of Company A, to assist me in the Commissary until my health is better. The Cooks of the regiment were again put under my charge and all directed to report to the Commissary Sergeant for instructions in
