76 Front of Petersburg, Va. Saturday July 9th 1864 The heavy siege Guns of both sides made considerable noise, and on our side no damage was done, except considerable inconvenience in keeping under cover. This evening we received two days rations of Hard-Bread, Coffee, sugar, Beans, Pork and whisky. Sunday 10th Officers baggage was brought up. An order from General Wilcox directing daily issue of whisky to all men on duty. Received fresh beef and whisky tonight.
