95 Front of Petersburg, Va. Tuesday August 16th 1864 Drew and issued one days ration of whisky this morning at one oclock, had to wade through water about three feet deep (result of last evenings rain) in going back and forth to the Brigade Commissary. Made out an extra return for whisky for the 14 men who are working in the trenches. It is reported that our Corps is to be relieved. Wednesday 17th The 9th Corps Head Quarters were removed considerable distance to the left and the 18th Corps Head Quarters now occupy the place. Received an order to appear before the Judge Advocate of the 3d Division 9th U.C. at two oclock and give evidence in the Court martial suit. over
