Henry Wentzel, of Company "B" was killed, by a sharp shooter. Rained this evening at six oclock. Thursday Augt 1864 About 1.30 this morning the enemy opened fire on us, with morter and other cannon and kept it up for about an hour. There was some very heavy fighting on our extreme left flank. It is reported this evening that the 5th Corps captured the Welden Railroad.
