113 Front of Petersburg, Va. (Left flank) Friday Sept 16" 1864 It is reported that the Rebel Cavalry succeeded in making a raid on our cattle corral and captured about 4500 head of cattle. Helped the Adjutant again with his reports. Saturday 17th Everything very quiet. Chas Bauch, Private Co. A killed by sharpshooter. Sunday 18 The boys are having a good rest today - no work or drill. Chas Faunce and Pat. Joyce drunk again. Monday 19th. Orders have been recd to be ready to move at a moments notice. The following men who did not re enlist, now on extra service have been ordered back to their Company: Alvin Clay, James Setzler and Saml. Souders, all of Company H. Helped the Adjutant again.
