137 Near Peeble's House, Va. Friday Nov 4th 1864 Commanded Company H during Company drill this morning and this afternoon during Brigade drill. Took the second lesson in german. Saturday 5th Commanded Co. "H." this morning during drill Isued one days ration of each Pork and Salt Mackrel. The Pork ration was composed wholly of shoulders. Sunday 6th Was on Inspection this morning, acting Sergeant Major. The regiment having accepted an invitation to attend divine services at Division marched over in a body at 10 A.M. and listened to a good sermon by the Chaplain of the 27th Michigan Infantry, after which I wrote letters to Miss R.C. Lowe and Miss Rebecca Thomas,
