141 Near Peeble's House, Va. Friday, Nov. 11th 1864 Orders were received directing the men to build winter quarters. Saturday 12th Lieut. H.S. Gechter started for home this morning. The men are busy building winter quarters. Sunday 13th Wrote letters to Uncle Henry Longacre and Miss Langley. The men worked all day on their winter quarters. Monday 14th Chopped logs with which to build my house - went to the wagon train and borrowed, from Lt. Eckel, a saw and hatchet.
