173 Fort McGilvery, Va. Wednesday, Jan'y 25th 1865 Made an addition to the chimney of my tent, so as to prevent the smoke from driving me out. Thursday, 26th All the applications for furloughs, sent to Army Head Quarters during the past few days have been returned disapproved. It is reported that no furloughs will be granted to the 9th Army Corps for the present. The regiment was routed out this evening at 11 oclock and after standing in line for about 15 minutes was dismissed. No reason given. Frederick and Thomas Deemer were discharged today by order of Brevet Major Genl. O. B. Wilcox, Commanding 9th Army Corps.
