174 Fort McGilvery, Va. Friday, Jan'y 27th 1865 Received a letter from father with $25 00 which I acknowledged and enclosed some cards for brother David. A.W. Gift returned, from furlough, and brought with copies of the paper in which Henry T. Kendall's experience, in his escape from Rebel prison, was published. Saturday 28th Rec'd a box, from home, containing: shirt, Pocket Handkerchief and two neck ties &c Wrote letter acknowledging receipt. Captain G. W. Brumm returned from his leave of absence.
