199 Camp 50th Regiment., P.V.V.. Saturday, March 25th 1865 About half past four oclock this morning an orderly came rushing up and ordered the regiment out, as the rebels had made an an attack on us. I ran out half dressed and formed the regiment, then Major Schwenk took all who had arms and on the double quick ran down near fort McGilvery and succeeded in getting in the rear of the Rebels, the Rebels seeing that their retreat was cut off, quite a large number surrendered. during the fight we had two men wounded viz - Francis Starwick of Co. B and William Paulus of Co. F.
