War Department, ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE, Washington, June 20", 1879. Capt. L. Crater, 514. So. 6" Str. Reading, Pa. Sir,- In answer to your request of the 6" inst., requesting the loan of the regimental and company books of the 50" Pa. Vet. Vols, to be used for historical purposes, I respectfully inform you that records of this office are never loaned. Owing to the numerous applications of this nature, the Department has been compelled to refuse all applications for information to be used for historical purposes, neither are outside parties allowed access to the records for the purpose
