Give my love to Mrs. Findley & Mrs. [Gleason?] & all our friends. Do not now be the least alarmed for I have written you the whole truth: Your faithful Husband J.B. Weaver Ironton, Mo Aug 22nd 1861 My dear darling wife: Last night I packed up my carpet sack and prepared to leave for home on furlough by the 9 oclock train this morning. I had been sick (although I had been keeping this from you thinking that it might injure you at the present time). And the Dr. thought a short trip home would be beneficial. I have been aflicted with the flux. First the diarea and then the flux. I was taken at Birds Point. I have never been dangerous, but I have been so that I could not do anything.
