reckless in that regard. Indeed Clara you are capable of making me the best wife living and you are that blessed one at this moment and I know that it makes your devoted heart supremely happy to be the exalted wife to me. The tender, thoughtful wife to me. You have no doubt learned that I cannot be happy unless you are the thoughtful tender caring wife. For love will naturally prompt a thousand little sweet acts of love towards the object of our affections and without those manifestations there can be no love whatever, none at all. And in that condition my heart would be a hell to me, and my home anything but desirable. And so long as God gives me grace their shall be nothing left undone on my part, and I know there will not be on yours. I do not know that I am entitled to very much credit however for the bestowal of my affection - the little things in life confess upon me an unutterable amount of this. Give that block [cart?] to Marion but do not think of having him chop wood for it. I am never [near?] it again. Give it to him. I should feel very badly if you should charge him any thing for it. It will be a pleasure to me to have you give it to him. Well bless your dear heart I wish I could bestow upon you some of my red hot kisses this bright morning. I could make you so happy. Why I can almost see the blood rushing through your blushing cheeks at the thought of so much love. Well glorious news from Iowa, Penn & Ohio, yes and Ind too. All for the Union with overwhelming majorities. Now the country is safe. Those elections are of more importance than three big victories in the field.
