H’d Qr’s Post at Pulaski April 18' 1864 My dear darling wife:- How dearly I love you this day. O so good, my dear darling wife, your letter of the 10th inst came yesterday. I never was so glad to get a letter from you. It indeed seems that I could not help biting you real hard if you were here with me. I am so rejoiced to know that you are gaining strength so rapidly, I think that since the 14th inst you will get right along. You know that would have been the proper time, and it is quite natural that you should remain a little weak until after that time. I am so glad the dear babe is beginning to grow. And he looks so much like Jimmie, Bless his little heart. I saw Mrs. Whittenmeyer to day, and I tell you she is in love with you and everybody that ever knew you. She said she never knew a woman to make such an impression on a crowd in her life. She said she did not blame me for falling in love with you, for she could not see how any one
