I must not forget to tell you that my right eye is paining me again. You remember I wrote you about it being so sore last winter. If you will notice in my photo my right eye droops, which causes it to look smaller than the other one - It is caused by a weakness of the eyelid - Dr Jones says 'twill be a long time, if ever, I get the old use of it - We are going to make up a box of presents for Lucy - who is in Springfield at school - as a New Year's present. Were you poking fun at me about Milton wanting my photo? Cant you let him look at yours? I never gave my picture to a gentleman in my life. I do not say I would not do so - but to give to this, that and 'tother feller - I say, I would'nt. My friends are welcome to my pictures - You know Mr Springer and I are unacquainted and he would only deem me presumptoues were I to send a picture to him of my vain self. Is'nt that even so-?
