Hd Qrs Co "C" 101 USC Inf Nashville Feby 1st 1865. Dear Aunt: If I can shake off the "blues" for an hour or so, I will attempt a reply to your last welcom favor. I fear though they have such a complete ascendancy at the present moment that it will be impossible for me to gain control of matters, for even the above short space of time. If I fail in throwing off the incubus of low spirits I will write a "blue" letter any how, just to see how one looks. If ever you felt that time moved to slow by threefourths, that every body and every thing was a big humbug, that ought to be kicked out of existence, and left to wander on the dim shores of ghost land, or to suffer in that place of woe, supreme above all others, where all such things ought to be, for the good of humanity and everybody else,
