or three times; had an invitation to go up the creek to church about six miles last sunday evening, but did not get to go. the other girls got contrarie and would not go. there was three couple going in a sled, the gentlemen (two of them old school mates) wanted to go any way but I was not going unless there were other ladies. I am always getting into trouble you know & am in that sort of a fix at present (although not very deep) the gentleman that was going with me is a soldier home on furlough (as I said before he was an old acquaintance) (and you know that "they should ne're be forgot") well he took me to a party the soon after he came home, the first one there was after he came, and I suppose that some of the fair damsells did not like it, one in particular asked him why he diden't ask her? she was one of the ladies that was to go to church, and I suppose to spite me, and prevent me getting a sligride she wouldent go, was so [spunky?] she wouldent speak to me, I woulden't care if she was not such a story teller (I wont say Liar) but she will tell anything to help her along, with the boys, but they all make fun of her. we did not go slighing but the gentle
