July 26, 1942 Wendover Utah Dear Dad & Mom, Arrived out here last night about eight o'clock after a heck of a long tiresome hot ride. We didn't have air conditioned cars this time and the desert was really hot 127 in our car. Food was good however and we had plenty of water. This is another new camp, no showers. We are sleeping in tents which I rather like except that the ground is very dusty and there is no place to hang things. Just finished [pulling?] out my whiskers in cold hard water my face feels like it was sandpapered. I hadn't shaved on the train as we were only supposed to be on the train 36 hours however we were on about 58 hours. The hotel where we ate breakfast that morning has been greatly enlarged and there are a few more restaurants but otherwise the town hasn't grown as I can see. The camp is more or less temporary mostly tents with a few tar paper barracks and no hangar as yet. We will move into barracks within a week.
