deep in the center and gradually tapered in depth from the shore. Only drawbacks it is an hour ride in an army truck part of it very rough and the mosquitoes are a fright. They don't bite me much but they gnawed on some of the fellows. Only a little salty. Some barber has set up shop near our tent on a box with a chair atop of it. He is going a land office business he seems a good barber it looks comical to see him pour water out of his canton into his shaving mug whip up a lather put it on the victims neck then give him one end go the strap to hold, sharpens his razor and shave his neck & sideburns and then wipe off the remaining soap with the victims own fowl. Some of these fellows make a hundred dollars or more extra a month by cutting hair. I have been sick to my stomach this afternoon really miserable but nothing serious. For dinner we had lemonade, the K.P.'s put the pure lemon juice into a big galvanized can before they mixed it, it took the galvanizing right off the can. It was good & cold and I drank two cups even tho it did have a slightly funny taste, most every one that drank it was ill according to the amount they drank. Won't go to supper & I'll be okay in the morning. We didn't go on a long hike today but drilled quite a little, the weather out here is hot but there seems always to be a cool breeze probably from the salt water ponds just east of the camp and do we sleep nights its great by nine o'clock you need a blanket and maybe before morning you are [illegible] for a second one. There is a fellow going to the P. Office so I'll stop & send this. Love, Johnny
