Dec 3rd 1918 My dear Miss Hetherington, Your very nice letter of Nov 7th was an event, as all letters are, over here but yours was particularly pleasant, because entirely unexpected. If you care to hear about us, I can tell you more about what we have been doing since censorship regulations have been lifted somewhat. I hope this letter won't sound egotistical, since we are only doing what everyone at home wanted to do but we were fortunate enough to get here. We left our hotel in N.Y. in groups of two or three, all our baggage having gone at 6 that morning. We were sent by different routes to the dock so that we all arrived by 3 P.M. We were much disappointed at the beginning to find that instead of sailing on the Leviathan which lay at that dock and which we had watched for several days, we were put on board an English
