The entrance to the [river?] wall is lined by Palms and fig trees and there you pass up and over the gate and into the city of the past. The streets paved with immense stones in which the wheels of the old chariots have worn grooves 3 - 4 in deep. The old public fountains where the stone is worn off by the right hand leaning over to drink. Their public baths with marble walls. The market place and places for grinding grains and bakeries mean that the civilization of that time was almost
