Feb 27th 1870 At Home Iowa Dear Brother and family I seat my self to drop you a few thoughts we received your letter in due time was glad to hear from you all. Wm says he thinks I ought to answer it so I will try. We are all well as common for which we feel thankful & are getting a long as well as we can Wm's School was out last Friday, mine will be out next week they do not manage schools here like they do there here they have a man they call the sub-director he employs a teacher for so much for month and he teaches four weeks for a month and at the end of the term he has to make out a list of his school and go to another man called treasurer
