sun 17. I had the pleasure of reading for the first time in my life my own production called " necessity of action in the western college advocate". I feel considerably elated to think that I have made my debut as a writer; and intend to pursue my success with all due diligence. (?) Mr. Knowles and made all necessary arrangements to have good music for our exhibition. the snow drifts are very deep in some places. mon,18. We had out grand rehearsal to night. nearly all the scholars were present, and we had a pretty good time. but I found that we require considerable more practice before our exhibition comes off. weather is fine. tues,19. We had a tolerably boring school day today, but toward evening I managed to keep them very quiet. it seems as though the scholars are getting anxious to put their books up. yet I can not complain as they are willing to obey as soon as I speak to them. our committees met tonight and arranged things very satisfactory for our exhibition. weds,20. the excitement about (?) is gradually dying although things have assumed a threatening affect, Jefferson Davis and Aexander H. Stephens are respectfully chosen president and vice president of " the confederate states of N. America "capital is at Montgomery Alabama"
