Thurs. 21 Studied very hard on acc. of having difficult lessons. Mr. [Bouversox?], made arrangements through me, to let Mr. Milne, Todd and myself have three acres of land upon which we intend to plant Sorghum. He agreed to let us have the land for $3 per acre, and to pay him at any time between now and the harvesting of the crop. I intend to make some money out of my share if every thing goes off to satisfaction Fri. 22. Nothing of importance happened today. The weather is cold and stormy. Satur. 23 I anxiously expected some letters, but was sorely disappointed. I feel like giving up writing any more letters because my friends are so lax in answering them. My room mate returned this evening. Sun. 24 . Our bed seems to be the best place on these cold windy mornings, so we did not leave it until old Sol had risen some distance in the horizon. Attended meeting, but was not much benefited. Mon. 25. Our exercises went off admirably, and the students seem to take an interest in them. The B.M.J had a grand time tonight arguing the secession question. Had sport.
