Mar. 14 It rained very hard today, but I was determined to go home, and had an opportunity to ride part way, which I accepted, I had to walk about 3 miles before I reached home. The small bag of apples which I had carried, became pretty heavy on this very wet journey, this forced me to leave it within a few miles of our home. I trudged on, and finally got home where I found all the folks well. Had a very pleasant meeting. Mar. 15 This morning I did not feel very well owing to the great exposure to which I had been recently subjected. I stayed in bed the greater part of the day, got worse toward evening. It still kept on raining. Mar. 16 My complaint got worse, and I feared that I should have an attack of the diphtheria. I took some pills. Mar. 17 I really did not comprehend my sickness no improvement in my feeling. I felt very weak, more like dying than living. Tues:18 Some of our neighbors came to see me but I did not feel like talking to them. Wed. 19 My sickness seems to be increasing instead of decreasing, it is apparently getting worse.
