Friday Feb 21st My dear - Have been very Much occupied since Tues. Left Belgrade at 2 and arrived here at 5:30 – a very beautiful trip down the Danube and I was the only passenger on a fairly [seyrd?) boat. Found Fox in a bad way - a larger rectal abscess plus a Broncho pneumonia – We despaired of his life yesterday but is a little better this Evening I operated on him Tues. night and again on Wed
