3 of No 5, who by the way was a Chicago man - Dr. Geo. D, Ternowsky, and none of us had the proper respect for the C.O. of 85. Had the C.O. of 85 had a spine of proper textun, Walter Fox would have received his majority before the 11th of Nov 1918. Walter did not get suck enroute from U.S. to Paris - and was never ill until he went to Serbia. Col. Ternowsky asked our men who had been working with him to go on this Balkan relief, with a promise that we would be at Base Hospt #85 home - that was the big inducement for us. 5 out of 100 chose to go. I did not make the trip to Belgrade with Walter as I had to wait for my baggage to catch up with me at home.
