Chicago Ill 1917 July 2, 1917 Dear Mother, I rec. your letter and the box of candy it sure was fine I gave several of the boys a piece they thought it was fine. I think youll be safe in sending me something the 4th I dont think we will go before then. They discharged a guy for sickness he was all over smiles he says I wish I could go to Franc with the bunch and at the same time he says I wish they would hurry up with my papers so I could catch that morning train home. To night is my last night in the kitchen so I suppose Ill catch gard duty for the 4th but if I do I am not going to kick about it like most of them do. It dont do any good to kick they just give it to you
