June 20, 1944 Dear Dave, Just a few words to let you know how much I appreciate and enjoy your weekly news letter, "Scuttlebutt". My sincere thanks to the G.I. Men's Club and yourself. Nothing much worthy of mate from this area. I'm still with a negro quartermaster service company at this P of E. I met Lt. Glenn Miller in Los Angeles one evening. Also have visited Lt.(?) Carl Koehler and family in Long Beach several times. Hoping to get together with Lt. Dave Pearson who is stationed at an air force hospital near Thermal, Calif. Doesn't seem possible we won't be seeing good old Hayden Hughes again. He takes
