13 July '44 Dear Dave: You old faithful Scuttlebutt arrived today rerouted from Blonding to Canjo Rucker in the hills of Southern Alabama. This country reminds me of southern Iowa except for the sed day and pines. Howeve it is beautiful country. I certainly do enjoy your weekly epistle and especially the mail bag.M y training here is a review of basic and what a basic review. Up at 400 am and to bed when you get there Rifle inspection with 30 minutes between the time you get in from firing on a range or running problems and firing blank ammunition, Each day they temm my rifle is getting worse. I don't know whether I or the rifle will rust and first it's a close race, Its a goel reducing procedure which I could stand when I came her about the 4th of July. Just accross the [bowuck] a bay from Iowa City Charles
