July 26 1944 New Hebrides Dear Dave I feel that I owe you a apology for not writing sooner and letting you know that I have been receiving your letters regularly, and have enjoyed them a lot. I see by the "scuttlebutte" that Don Bayer is on this island at least he described it as the largest in the New Hebrides group, and thats the one I am on. When the weather clears up I will try and locate him. Another Washington boy Jack Watson has been on this island for eighteen months and the other day got his orders for State side, so you will be seeing him. Jack came out a month a head of me, so I have my fingers crossed. I have been on this same location since arriving here seventeen months ago. We constructed this hospital and put it in commission over a year ago. Since that time a lot of changes have taken place, mainly,
