Camp Geddes Miss Oct 8th 1863 Dear Father I have not wrote to you in a long while so I thought I would drop you a few lines we are as well as circumstances will permit and I hope this will find you and the rest of the family in good health I have no news to write but will try and fill the small sheet we have been working all day hard fixing our Quarters but we dont know how long we will get to stay here I believe we will stay here all winter we are setting pickets in the ground and putting our tents on them and building chimneys well Pap Ill tell you how we are employed tonight Hem Parker I and Jack Groves are writing Dave Newman is eating supper Peter and Isiah have gone to nigger meeting
